About - Slam Sunday

Monthly Poetry Slam

Slam Sunday is a monthly live poetry event that has been running since October 2013. It is based in Dublin city centre, Ireland. The current venue for the slam is the basement theatre space in Filmbase, Curved Street, Temple Bar, Dublin 2.

The event is organised and run by Edel Doran, Brian McMahon Gallagher and Aidan Murphy. Every event is staffed by 3-4 people to handle the stage setup, ticket desk, competition organisation and hosting.

Slam Sunday is completely paid for by audience ticket sales. Every month, 5 poets win cash prizes. We also have a policy that any poet who signs up to perform does not have to also pay to attend.

In 2017, the organisation made a total loss of €182.24. The payout to poets taking part in Slam Sunday in 2017 totalled roughly €1,700.
